Self-priming centrifugal pumps are a type of pump that can lift liquid from a level below the pump without having to fill the suction piping with liquid. This is in contrast to regular centrifugal pumps, which require the suction piping to be primed before they can operate.
Self-priming centrifugal pumps work by using a priming chamber to create a vacuum. This vacuum draws liquid from the suction source into the pump. Once the pump is primed, it can continue to operate even if the suction liquid level drops below the pump.
